About Camp Cherith of Western New York in Hunt, NY
Camp Cherith of Western New York is a camp dedicated to transforming the lives of children and youth by providing a Bible-based, Christ-centered outdoor camping program. Licensed through Pioneer Clubs, there are associated camps throughout the United States and Canada. The name Cherith (pronounced CARE-ith) originates from 1 Kings 17, when God told Elijah to go the brook called Cherith during a drought. To symbolize the role of the Christian adults at Camp Cherith, they are given names derived from birds and other animals to represent their part in nourishing the campers' spiritual growth.
At Camp Cherith, campers are provided with a unique opportunity to explore and discover the Word of God. With carefully chosen Christian adults who love the Lord, campers are given a safe and nurturing environment to learn and grow spiritually. The adults’ names, derived from birds and other animals, serve as a reminder to the children of the nourishment they receive.
Camp Cherith of Western New York is an incredible opportunity for children and youth to learn about the Bible and deepen their relationship with Christ. Camper in Leadership Training (CILT)
The Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program provides a unique educational and practical challenge for high school age campers with leadership potential. Participants will have opportunities to increase their skills and abilities, deepen their knowledge and applications of scripture, and gain a variety of leadership experiences. CILT trains them for future leadership opportunities at camp and beyond! The CILT course is a two-step program (CILT I & CILT II), usually consisting of two weeks at camp during each of two consecutive summers, plus assignments to complete during the school year between summers.
