About The Harlem School of the Arts in New York, NY

From Louis Armstrong to Ella Fitzgerald, we bring you music as only Harlem can. Whether laying the foundation for a beginner or polishing a more advanced musician, our expert faculty of performing professionals, offers a sequential, rigorous introduction, while instilling in each student a love of Harlem and its history and music.

HSA DANCE

HSA Dance provides classes regardless of skill level or prior training as well as advanced classes requiring audition or assessment. Students aged 8 and up must be assessed for placement before enrollment into a ballet or contemporary class. All students are invited to perform in HSA’s annual end-of-year dance concert event. The program is developing dance ensembles by audition or invitation only.

HSA THEATER

HSA Theater provides those same opportunities for young people. Classes are led by working professionals, bringing real-world experience to every class. Ages 3 through adults are offered all levels of interest, from the curious beginner through the young professional. Classes are sequential for children who choose theater as their passion so that each class builds on the skills learned in previous classes.
