In the sunny state of California, where palm trees sway alongside skyscrapers, a bunch of cool kids defy the odds by playing a sport that's normally played in frosty temperatures. Yes, you heard it right! They play hockey! Not on the icy lakes or freezing ponds, but in massive, air-conditioned arenas that sparkle like a giant popsicle under the golden Californian sun.

Our tale follows the journey of the "Ice Surfers," a team of fun-loving hockey kids, with their leader, Zippy the Zamboni. Now, Zippy is no ordinary Zamboni. With his bright, shiny paint job that glistens like a rainbow, and his googly eyes that blink with mischief, Zippy not only keeps the rink smooth but also keeps the spirits high. 

The Ice Surfers, wearing their team jerseys of brilliant oranges and blues that outshine even the most radiant California sunset, zoom across the rink with Zippy leading the charge. With every swish of their sticks and every slide on the ice, they create waves of laughter and joy. They compete, not for trophies or medals, but for the sheer thrill of skating, shooting, and scoring, all while cracking jokes and sharing high-fives. 

So, in the land where surfing and skating take center stage, these puck-chasing, joke-cracking, and Zamboni-loving kids have carved out their own cool corner. With their hockey sticks raised high and their laughter filling the air, they've made the icy sport sizzle under the Californian sun. They are the Ice Surfers, riding the waves of fun in their own frosty paradise.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

Welcome to our highly successful training center, where our world-class trainers and coaches offer instruction in a variety of ice sports. Our training center caters to a variety of hockey organizations, including Mariners Youth Hockey, LA Kings High School League, CSUN and Cal Lutheran College Hockey. 

At our training center, we offer instruction in hockey, figure skating, off-ice strength training and agility, curling, speed skating, synchronized skating, and ice theater. To accommodate our wide range of instruction, we have two separate sheets of ice: an NHL-sized rink and an Olympic-sized rink. 

At our training center, we strive to provide our athletes with the best instruction available. With two sheets of ice and world-class trainers and coaches on staff, we are sure that our athletes will gain the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their chosen ice sport!

Sharks Ice at San Jose is the premier ice skating destination for families in the Bay Area! Located conveniently at the intersection of Alma and Tenth Street in San Jose, California, Sharks Ice at San Jose is the largest rink facility west of the Mississippi. Boasting six NHL-sized ice rinks and nearly 370,000 square-feet of space, families can find plenty of activities to enjoy here. From ice hockey and figure skating, to broomball, curling, speed skating, and ice dancing, there’s something for everyone. Plus, Sharks Ice at San Jose is the official practice facility of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the new home to the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. Sharks Ice at San Jose is the largest rink facility west of the Mississippi. Located in San Jose, California at the corner of Alma and Tenth Street, the 370,000 square-feet facility offers plenty of activities for the whole family. With six NHL-sized ice rinks, it is one of only seven facilities of its kind in the entire United States. Ice hockey, figure skating, broomball, curling, speed skating, and ice dancing are all available, plus a public skating area. It is also the official practice facility of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the home to the AHL's San Jose Barracuda. In addition, Sharks Ice at San Jose is the proud holder of the largest number of Adult USA Hockey participants (2,400) in the nation. Welcome to the Cage Roller Hockey Rink! Our outdoor facility is the perfect destination for those looking to take part in recreational hockey. We offer a variety of leagues and divisions for players of all ages and skill levels. Our Youth and Adult divisions provide a great opportunity for young and experienced hockey players to join in on the fun. For those over 40, we have an Over 40 Division so you can stay active and continue playing the game you love. 

In addition to our regular divisions, we also have a Ball Hockey league for all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, this league is great for honing your skills and having a great time. At IceTown Carlsbad, we use the Learn To Skate USA program for our Skating Academy. The Learn To Skate USA program is designed to be the best beginner’s ice skating program that serves the needs of both the recreational and competitive skater. Through this program, our coaching staff helps skaters achieve their goals, whether they be Olympic fame or simply to enjoy the recreational benefits of skating.

Classes are grouped by age and ability and depending on your level, classes are 30 minutes. There are five weeks during the year that classes are not held: Memorial Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year. The monthly payments are due every month and are based on an average of 47 classes per year.
