While it’s beneficial for children to engage in a healthy level of competition in activities like baseball, it's important not to let the spirit of competition overshadow the main goal of Little League, which is to ensure each child has a positive, fair, and fun experience. It's crucial to remember that the thrill of winning should never come at the expense of treating any player unjustly. Good coaches and managers should lead by example, demonstrating how to balance a competitive attitude with fairness, ensuring that every player is treated equitably. The rules of the WHLL have been designed with this goal in mind, aiming to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for all players. The rules also offer flexibility to managers and coaches when it comes to how they want to play and position their players. The WHLL is dedicated to promoting fair play and the importance of positive role modeling for managers, coaches, volunteers, and players alike. Fair play is generally evaluated based on the opportunities provided to players, such as the time they get to play infield or outfield, the amount of pitching time they receive, and the number of times they get to bat. Specific rules have been established for each division to ensure minimum playing time and address other issues related to fair play.
