For over forty years, the Playhouse has remained a mainstay of the theater arts in the community. Under the watchful eye of Artistic Director Randolph DelLago, the Playhouse continues to bring Broadway-style productions to the area and offers a variety of activities from musicals and dramas to lectures, one-act plays and the children’s theater workshop. DelLago’s innovative “Musical Memories” series has been especially popular with audiences. The library’s story begins in 1913, when the Ladies Improvement Association established the library. In 1938, the Delray Beach Public Library Association was founded as a non-profit corporation to provide public library services to the community. For the past 70 years, Delray Beach Public Library has provided library services to its patrons through an effective public-private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a major portion of the library’s annual operating budget, while the Library Association has raised funds for capital needs. The Library Association is committed to providing quality library services and resources to meet the evolving needs and expectations of its patrons. Through its commitment to excellence in library services, the Library Association has become an integral part of the community and has grown to become a vibrant and respected institution in Delray Beach.
