Now, you may ask, "What makes Illinois so special?" It's not the deep-dish pizza or the magnificent Lake Michigan, not even the iconic Wrigley Field. It's the self-proclaimed "Sewing Superstars" of Illinois, a group of extraordinary kids, who possess the magical power to turn a simple piece of cloth into a masterpiece, with just a needle and thread.

Leading these Sewing Superstars is Professor Pincushion, a mystical character with thimbles for eyes, thread for hair, and a measuring tape for a belt. His laughter sounds like a sewing machine on a race, "brrrr-brrrr-brrrr." He can turn anything into a sewing project - from gigantic dinosaur onesies to tiny mouse slippers. 

Our Sewing Superstars aren't just ordinary kids. They stitch, embroider, and quilt with such finesse that even Professor Pincushion's button eyes gleam with pride. Their secret? Well, it's their contagious laughter and wild imaginations. They believe that every stitch tells a story. Oh, and pizza. Lots and lots of deep-dish pizza. 

So, here's to the Sewing Superstars of Illinois, transforming the state one stitch at a time, making it a place as colorful as their patchwork quilts. They weave tales of friendship and fun, proving that with a dash of creativity, a sprinkle of humor, and a needle and thread, anything is possible!

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association.

Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
