Once upon a time, in a land nestled between two mighty rivers, stood the vibrant state of New York, where the skyscrapers reached out to tickle the clouds and pizza slices were as large as kites. Its heart was a dizzying labyrinth of taxis, lights, and people, but this city-state was also home to lush green forests, shimmering lakes, and mountains that whispered secrets of the ancient earth.

Here, the children were as lively as the city itself; a tribe of bright-eyed explorers and dreamers, always ready for their next big adventure. They were as diverse as the city's flavors, each one unique, each one special. But what these NY kiddos loved the most was their legendary Field Trips. You see, their classrooms weren't just confined to four walls; every corner of the metropolis and every leaf in the woodland was a page from the greatest book they could ever read.

Leading these fantastic forays was their quirky guide, a cool cat named Skateboard Sam. Sam was no ordinary feline. He was a hipster cat who wore funky spectacles, sported a rainbow-colored tail, and rode a magical skateboard that glided above the ground. And oh boy, did Sam know every nook and cranny of New York! From the top of towering Empire State Building to the depths of the ancient Adirondack caves, they followed Sam, weaving through the city streets and hiking up the trails, their laughter echoing amongst the trees and skyscrapers. Each Field Trip was a roller-coaster of discovery, full of the magic of New York and the boundless curiosities of childhood. So strap on your adventure hats, kiddos, because in New York, every day is a Field Trip with Skateboard Sam!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

For over 60 years, Camp Cedarbrook has been a place of spiritual growth and adventure for girls. At this rustic Christian camp, girls ages 7-17 can discover a unique community of faith and explore who they are in Christ. Through outdoor activities, skill-building workshops, and worship services, campers can gain confidence to face life’s challenges, build relationships, and grow in their relationship with God. 

Camp Cedarbrook is dedicated to creating an environment where your daughter can thrive. Their counselors are passionate, experienced Christian women who will support and guide your child as she navigates her faith journey and builds relationships with her peers. Camp Overlook is an exciting and educational summer camp experience for kids ages 6-19. Established in 1945 as a 4-H camp, it is owned by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Franklin and St. Lawrence County. Campers will enjoy plenty of outdoor fun, while also learning important life lessons such as positive social interactions, building skills, and environmental awareness. Counselors and professionals are on hand to provide guidance and support, ensuring campers have a safe and positive experience.

4-H Camp Overlook is more than just a summer camp. It is a year-round outdoor learning center, providing children with an opportunity to grow in a natural Adirondack environment. Campers are challenged to develop personal growth, while being surrounded by positive role models. The mission of 4-H Camp Overlook is to create an atmosphere where youth can take part in meaningful activities that emphasize community building, skill building, and of course, fun!

Park Shore, an award-winning Long Island Summer Day Camp located in Dix Hills, is the perfect opportunity for your child to explore new experiences and make lasting memories. Rushford, New York is home to the unique and diverse outdoor destination of Hanging Bog Wildlife Management Area. This lush area comprises 4,500 acres of natural hardwood forests, conifer plantations, fields, streams, marshes, and a bog. Located just two miles away from Rushford Lake, this area offers families a chance to explore and learn about nature. 

At the center of this area is Camp Rushford, the only DEC Camp specifically built for conservation education. Constructed out of logs salvaged from the Adirondacks after the blow down of 1950, Camp Rushford is the perfect place for families to take part in interactive activities and classes designed to educate and entertain.

At Camp Olmsted, our goal is to give children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to experience the joys of outdoor camping. This mission dates back to the early 1900’s and has been extended to include immigrant families too. 

In the 1960’s, the United Methodist City Society opened the United Methodist Camp Service, which allowed children and families from low-income neighborhoods in NYC to attend camp and offered support throughout the summer camp registration process. 

More recently, in 1997, the United Methodist City Society took ownership of Camp Olmsted and, along with registration for Camp Olmsted, children were given the chance to register for the Fresh Air Fund. This service has enabled countless underserved communities to experience the magic of camping.
