Once upon a time, in the vast, bighearted land of Texas, there existed a unique group of kids. They were not your average astronauts or cowboys, oh no, they were the super, bouncing, basketball kiddos of Texas. Led by their funny, cowboy-hat-wearing kangaroo coach, Slam Dunkaroo, they gathered every day under the scorching Texan sun to play their favourite sport.

Slam Dunkaroo, with his booming laugh and signature somersault dunks, was an expert in ‘Hoopology’. His pouch was always filled with magic basketballs that only soared straight into the hoop. He taught his Texan tykes not only how to dribble with swagger but also how to shoot three-pointers with the accuracy of a NASA satellite.

The basketball kids of Texas were known far and wide for their twirling tricks, hip-hop dribbling, and the famous ‘yeehaw’ cheer after each basket. Their laughter echoed around the court as they danced and pranced with the ball, their faces glowing brighter than the neon lights of Dallas at night. Every hoop they made caused a mini tornado, and when they did a slam dunk, it’s said that the armadillos raced off with surprising speed, leaving only dust behind.

But the true magic was not in their hoops or cheers. It was in their spirit. Each one of them wore a smile as broad as the Rio Grande and a determination as firm as the Alamo. They were more than just players; they were the heart of Texas, proving that everything indeed was bigger and better here, not excluding the love for basketball. And as for Slam Dunkaroo, well, he bounced away into the sunset, leaving a trail of giggles and a court full of dreams.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Swift Nature Camp an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 6-15 located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. 

 I’m Lonnie, the Camp Director, and I’m thrilled to share what makes SNC such a special place for kids and families alike. For nearly 30 years, our mission has been to create an environment where children can grow, discover, and make lifelong memories. Here at camp, we focus on friendship, personal development, and a deep connection to nature—all in a fun, supportive, and adventurous setting. All this without cell phones
One of the things that sets Swift Nature Camp apart is our focus on fostering independence and confidence. Whether it’s trying a new activity like canoeing, taking on a leadership role in a group project, or simply navigating life away from home, camp provides endless opportunities for personal growth. We celebrate each camper’s unique personality and encourage them to step outside their comfort zone in a safe and nurturing way. Seeing kids gain new skills and pride in their accomplishments is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

For our youngest campers, Discovery Camp is an especially magical experience. Designed only for first-time campers ages 6-12, this shorter program gives kids a chance to experience the joys of camp life in a way that’s just right for them. It’s amazing to watch these kids try new things—from learning about the natural world to singing campfire songs—and leave camp with big smiles and even bigger stories to tell. Discovery Camp is often the beginning of a long and cherished relationship with SNC, and we’re so proud to see those first-time campers grow into confident and capable young people.

Another cornerstone of Swift Nature Camp is our connection to the environment. We believe that nature isn’t just a backdrop for camp; it’s a teacher, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Through hands-on activities like pond studies, wildlife observation, and outdoor adventures, campers develop an appreciation for the natural world that stays with them long after camp ends. The Camp Zoo is always a favorite, campers can even adopt a pet while at camp.Our goal is to inspire kids to become curious, mindful stewards of the environment.

At Swift Nature Camp, there’s never a dull day! With hundreds of land and water activities, campers are always engaged and excited. On land, some favorites include the Lego Cabin, Arts & Crafts, Archery, and exploring the Nature Center. On the water, campers learn Canoeing, Fishing, and Swimming, but the absolute favorites are Tubing behind the boat and jumping off the Water Trampoline. Never is there a dull day because every day is packed with fun, adventure, and opportunities to try something new.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing friendships that form here. SNC is a place where kids truly feel like they belong. Campers and counselors alike bring warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything we do, creating a strong sense of community. Whether it’s cheering each other on during a game, collaborating on a creative project, or sharing laughs around the campfire, the bonds formed at Swift Nature Camp are something truly special.

The spiritual life at our camp is deeply rooted in the Sacraments. Regular Mass celebrations form part of our routine, and our chapel is always open for those who wish to visit the Blessed Sacrament. We are also blessed with the presence of priests who serve as chaplains, providing the Sacraments and promoting fellowship. Our staff is filled with boundless passion and enthusiasm to share the joy of faith with our campers.

The presence of Jesus is not confined to the chapel at The Pines. His spirit is felt in every corner of the camp, from the exhilarating peak of the zipline to the tranquil paths winding through the grounds. He is present in each conversation and resonates in the breathtaking beauty of the natural world surrounding us!

At Heart O' the Hills, we have meticulously designed our program with an emphasis on fostering personal growth and character development. Our mission is to empower girls with self-confidence, promote teamwork, and nurture leadership skills. Moreover, we strive to champion individuality, motivation, and resilience. We are more than just a summer camp; we are a nurturing community, dedicated to encouraging personal growth and development.

Our camp offers diverse 2- and 4-week overnight sessions, packed with over 50 instructional activities. Austin Sunshine Camps has been offering enjoyable, overnight summer camp programs to children in the greater Austin area, completely free of cost since 1928. We continue this tradition by offering free programs to not only returning campers but also new campers who either meet the eligibility for free or reduced school meals or are part of the foster care system. We believe in providing an enriching summer experience without any financial burdens.

For over six decades, the Quillian Center has been a haven for children looking to enjoy a memorable summer camp experience. Nestled in the heart of Houston's vibrant westside, Camp Quillian has won the hearts of the Westchase District community, becoming the most popular choice for a summer camp. Accredited by the American Camp Association, we offer day camp services for children aged 5-12 and a special Teen Camp for those aged 13-14. With flexible camp hours running from 8AM to 6:30PM, we provide an experience that is both enjoyable and convenient.

We understand that each family's schedule differs, and as such, we are pleased to offer half-day options for both morning and afternoon sessions. Morning half-day campers are welcome to join us as soon as our doors open, where they can partake in specialty camps and grand assemblies. These campers can be picked up at the end of their lunchtime. Our afternoon half-day campers begin their adventure at 1PM, participating in facility rotations, special events, and daily swimming opportunities. Pick up time for these campers is 6:30PM when our camp closes.

Camp Quillian is not only about fun, but also about diverse activities that keep children engaged. We boast a host of resources including a gymnasium, two swimming pools, an indoor climbing wall, game rooms, athletic fields, and a playground. Our programs are designed to cater to a variety of interests, from indoor and outdoor sports to enrichment classes, arts and crafts, special events, guest speakers, and games. We even host a Vacation Bible Camp! This summer, we're going for gold as we celebrate the 2024 Summer Olympics. If you've ever had the privilege of spending your summer at El Tesoro as a camper, a counselor, or contributing in any other role, your presence at our upcoming events will help us commemorate and honor the cherished history of our beloved camp. We're planning to share stories, photos, and precious memories spanning nine decades, and we'd be thrilled if you joined us. The Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro, established in 1934, has been a welcoming haven for generations of campers, with its iconic swinging bridge being a memorable landmark for many.

El Tesoro, which translates to "The Treasure" in Spanish, is a 223-acre sanctuary nestled between Fall Creek and the Brazos River in Granbury, Texas. Our camp offers a breathtaking panorama of the serene river and the vast open spaces of the blackland prairie. Our natural terrain and indigenous landscape offer our visitors a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. This idyllic oasis currently hosts co-ed overnight campers, day campers, grief campers, teachers, students keen on learning about nature, and groups seeking to foster connection and indulge in outdoor adventures.

In 2010, Camp Fire First Texas launched a Capital Campaign aimed at renovating and upgrading the facilities at Camp El Tesoro. This initiative is essential to ensure that the enchanting spirit of the camp continues to be enjoyed by future generations. We're committed to preserving and enhancing the magic of Camp El Tesoro, enriching the lives of campers for many years to come.

At the Texas Elks Camp, children with special needs and those in foster care are offered a unique opportunity to explore new experiences, forge new friendships, and create lasting memories. The camp fosters an environment where children are motivated to make their own choices, grow in their independence, and tackle fresh challenges. 

Every child between the ages of 7 and 21, who has special needs or is in foster care and resides in Texas, is entitled to apply for admission to the Texas Elks Camp. The camp believes in inclusion, ensuring that no child is excluded due to their income level, ethnicity, race, creed, color, or religion. 

The Texas Elks Camp is completely free of charge. Admission is granted on a fair, "first-come, first-served" basis, ensuring equal opportunity for all applicants. This wonderful camp promises a safe, fun, and enriching experience for each and every child who walks through its doors.

The Mammoths' tennis program is proud to call their recently renovated 14-court facility home. With two seven-court sections, the space also features a custom pavilion offering 1300 square feet of shade to players and spectators alike. Not to mention, the facility has wireless score keeping technology and has previously hosted a number of NCAA Regional Tournaments.

We are truly off the beaten path with miles of hiking trails, abundant forests, and our own private waterfront. When our campers are unplugged from their phones and immersed in nature, their friendships and creativity thrive.

Camp Huawni is a traditional, throwback summer camp for boys and girls. We believe that camp works best when we have simple fun, are outdoors a lot, experience meaningful traditions and ceremonies, and develop authentic friendships.
