In the vast, hearty state of Texas, where the clouds stretch as far as the eye can see and the sunsets paint the sky like a sprawling mural, there resides an unusual yet charming group of kids. These are not your everyday, run-of-the-mill children, oh no, these kids are the remarkable members of the Texas Tumbleweed Art & Crafts Club! Led by none other than the cool, capricious cowboy artist, Doodlebug Dan, who sports a paint-splattered ten-gallon hat and a pair of crayon-colored chaps.

These kids are as diverse as the Texan landscape itself. Some are as enthusiastic and wild as the tumbleweeds that roll across the wide-open plains, others as calm and reflective as the tranquil surface of the Guadalupe River, but they all share a love for creating marvelous masterpieces. Through sizzling summers and bone-chilling winters, the Art & Crafts club keeps their creativity flowing like the Rio Grande.

In Doodlebug Dan's workshop, beneath the shade of a giant cottonwood tree, you'll see the children huddled around tables, their faces glowing with concentration. They use everything from paints and pencils to the most unconventional of materials like prickly cactus needles and shiny armadillo shells, to create their pieces of art. An outsider might think it's all a chaotic, colorful mess, but to Doodlebug Dan and his posse, it's a symphony of imagination with every child playing their part. Their laughter rings through the air, the sound as sweet and cheerful as a mockingbird's song on a spring morning. In Texas, art & crafts aren't just a hobby, they're a way of life, as essential as cowboy boots and barbeque.

Since 1947, we have been offering a unique residential camping experience for individuals with disabilities. At Camp Summit, we focus on what our campers can do, rather than what they can't. We offer a variety of traditional camp activities, all of which are adapted to each individual's needs and abilities. Our facilities are completely barrier-free, and our staff is not only well-trained, but also deeply caring. Campers are grouped by age, allowing them to build friendships within their peer groups, all while having a great time and embarking on new adventures.

Situated on a beautiful 460-acre plot in Paradise, Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Camp Summit is the ideal location for a safe and fun camping experience. We are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed as a Youth Camp in the State of Texas. Our campers may have physical challenges, developmental delays, dual-sensory impairments, or multiple disabilities. At Heart O' the Hills, we have meticulously designed our program with an emphasis on fostering personal growth and character development. Our mission is to empower girls with self-confidence, promote teamwork, and nurture leadership skills. Moreover, we strive to champion individuality, motivation, and resilience. We are more than just a summer camp; we are a nurturing community, dedicated to encouraging personal growth and development.

Our camp offers diverse 2- and 4-week overnight sessions, packed with over 50 instructional activities. For over six decades, the Quillian Center has been a haven for children looking to enjoy a memorable summer camp experience. Nestled in the heart of Houston's vibrant westside, Camp Quillian has won the hearts of the Westchase District community, becoming the most popular choice for a summer camp. Accredited by the American Camp Association, we offer day camp services for children aged 5-12 and a special Teen Camp for those aged 13-14. With flexible camp hours running from 8AM to 6:30PM, we provide an experience that is both enjoyable and convenient.

We understand that each family's schedule differs, and as such, we are pleased to offer half-day options for both morning and afternoon sessions. Morning half-day campers are welcome to join us as soon as our doors open, where they can partake in specialty camps and grand assemblies. These campers can be picked up at the end of their lunchtime. Our afternoon half-day campers begin their adventure at 1PM, participating in facility rotations, special events, and daily swimming opportunities. Pick up time for these campers is 6:30PM when our camp closes.

Camp Quillian is not only about fun, but also about diverse activities that keep children engaged. We boast a host of resources including a gymnasium, two swimming pools, an indoor climbing wall, game rooms, athletic fields, and a playground. Our programs are designed to cater to a variety of interests, from indoor and outdoor sports to enrichment classes, arts and crafts, special events, guest speakers, and games. We even host a Vacation Bible Camp! This summer, we're going for gold as we celebrate the 2024 Summer Olympics.
