In the quirky cheese-shaped state of Wisconsin, where cows held important discussions about the best grass to munch on, and squirrels were the unofficial mayors of the parks, a vivacious band of kids was on a mission. A mission, that was as crispy as an apple, and as serious as a pickle - to be the unbeatable masters of Ping-Pong! These were no ordinary kids. Oh no, they were 'The Paddling Cheeseheads', a group of sprightly youngsters who lived, breathed, and even dreamt about Ping-Pong. The ringleader of this robust pack was an imaginary character named Paddling Pete, who had ping-pong balls for eyes and a laugh that sounded like a racket hitting a ball, "Ping-Pong-Pong!" Every day, after school, the kids would rush to Cheesehead Park, their rackets ready to dance with the ping-pong balls. The balls would fly back and forth, putting the most energetic hummingbird to shame! The kids would laugh, cheer, and sometimes even do a little jig if they hit a particularly tricky shot. The squirrels would watch in awe, their tiny paws clapping in admiration. Despite being an imaginary character, Paddling Pete was a genuine champ. He could play Ping-Pong with his eyes closed, upside down, balancing on one foot, and even while munching a cheese sandwich! He inspired the Paddling Cheeseheads to play their best and taught them that Ping-Pong was not just about winning, but also about having fun. Wisconsin had never seen a more exciting Ping-Pong spectacle! Even the cows paused their important grazings and the squirrels put their mayoral duties on hold to watch the Paddling Cheeseheads and their legendary Ping-Pong matches.

For over 50 years, Frontier Camp has been dedicated to making disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word amidst the beauty of His creation. Since our founding in 1969, we’ve been licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services and are proudly accredited by the American Camping Association. We’re also a member of the Christian Camping and Conference Association. Our mission is to use Christian camping and outdoor recreation as a means to support local churches in fulfilling the Great Commission—evangelizing people of all ages and discipling believers toward deeper maturity in Christ. Frontier Camp offers a dual ministry: during the summer, we host a 10-week youth camp, and throughout the rest of the year, we serve as a retreat facility for churches and like-minded religious organizations. Whether through summer camps or retreats, our goal remains the same: to expose people to Christ and encourage their spiritual growth through His Word and by reflecting His character in everything we do. While we provide top-notch recreation and exciting programming, the heart of our camp is the spiritual impact, rooted in the truth of God’s inerrant Word.
